The “New” Swimsuit Issue

By kinziblogs

I saw that title on TIME magazine’s website and thought “Great, they found some cute girl to wear the latest in too-little swimwear for Sports Illustrated”.

But, to my surprise, it was highlighting the explosive demand for the “Burkini”, the ‘anti-bathing suit’ (I think blogger Nido got one in hot pink!). They still have an old photo of “Mecca La La” (and I still think it is a  fake name!), but what surprised me is that the demand isn’t just from Muslim women. Christians are buying them, people with scars, skin sensitivities, etc. I’ll just let you read it for yourself:

As a fairly devout and modest Christian, I haven’t found a bathing suit I am confident wearing in Jordan yet. Even the higher necked versions and those with skirts still border on looking like lingerie. I’ve been surprised at the pool that there are no ‘leerers’, and plenty of women wearing much less than I do, which helps, but I wonder if one of these would work for me. It would certainly keep the risk of skin cancer at bay. I’m sure my son would die a 1,000 deaths, though.
(I think it is becoming clear that I have been struggling with boredom today! When have I ever had time to read TIME? :(

It is a good idea especially that it gives women who cover a choice if they like to enjoy some type fo freedom .. I haven’t seen it here yet, am sure the news would have said something if one was spotted along the beaches of Florida..

Noura, so true…I’m sure it would definitely make the news in Florida!! Hey, you could have YOUR 15 minutes of fame if you were the first to hit the beaches in one!
