THE Rebellious Arab Girl just tagged me for this one again, but from the feminine perspective. Sortof of even a bit Arab, since most of my female readers are.
1) Be able to cook the Big Four M’s: Mansaf, Ma’loobeh, ‘Mlookheeyah, Mujaddara. If you are really feeling lofty, add ‘Msukkhan. Learn from Teta, not Maria. (This one was added NOT to prepare a woman for marriage, but as a link to an important cultural heritage!)
2) The ability to ascertain that if one can count the stitches in one’s bra or panties through one’s outer clothing, said clothing is too tight.
3) To have learned to actively listen to girlfriends and not tell their secrets to anyone.
4) The discernment to know that if Mr. Too-Good-To-Be-True begins to pursue you hot and heavy beyond cultural boundaries, he probably is.
5) Disciplined those fingers to stay away from blackheads and pimples.
6) Know yourself well enough to choose a college major that reflects your talents and gifts, not just what your tawjihi or baba says you should study.
So how was that from a foreign khalto’s perspective?
Same rules as the previous post. Tomorrow I will tag Iman, Secretea, Summer, Chika, Asoom and Dino$

A very goog list indeed,in my humble opinion.I’d say you’ve got wisdom at a very young age.
I would have liked to have used my God given brain for more than a hat rack (and I hate wearing anything on my head, but my blonde tresses) before I became 47.

Cooking the Big Four M’s by 18?! come onnn!! That’s a lot!! I recently started cooking them all, and I’m doing good! It’s good to learn cooking later on after marriage cuz once you start you can’t stop!! I would advice all girls to stay away from the kitchen before marriage…or else there wont be action in kitchen after marriage:D

Nice list. Oh, and I can’t cook any of the four (or five) M’s. Good thing I’m an American girl, hunh? Now, I do make a mean lasagna, spaghetti, turkey, and baked chicken
.

Crystal, God does an amazing work at redeeming blondes and their former foolishness! Now you do know I am nearly 48, right?
Great to see you here again!
Batoul, thank you!! I’m lol-ing with you.
Maher, I need to introduce you to the girls I know. There are GREAT girls in Amman! Just say NO to fafi-chicks!
Nido, ma a7sanik!! My point is mainly how cool it seems to be among fafi-chicks to have NO idea how to make some of the regional specialities! They make American girls look bad in the kitchen!
Dima, thanks for the good words! lol, #5 took me way beyond 18 to learn.
Sam, now arent’ you Syrian? you get a pass on Mansaf, then
. I hear your eggs are SO good, who needs the other Ms?
Ola, thats right! Some girls do do that!
MommaBean, heh-heh, no, we Americans just need to stay with the five main food groups: Spaghetti, Hamburgers, Tacos, Mac-n-cheese and Hamburger Helper. If that is frozen lasagne and boneless-skinless baked chicken you are referring to, I suppose those would fit too. Nothing that takes longer than 15 minutes to prepare, I mean.

looooooooool@ “Be able to cook the Big Four M’s: Mansaf, Ma’loobeh, ‘Mlookheeyah, Mujaddara.” while I do believe that this point is great, it sounds a bit ideal. Kinzi, I guess you should lower your expectations a bit… I would say a girl should be able to fry an egg by the age of 18 hehehe

LOL! LOOOOOL!! the last 2 points are a killer! LOL

Secretea, ahhhh, it’s all a matter of training! My 13 year old son fries the eggs for us! I will have him making Ma’loobeh by his next birthday!
Chika…heh-heh, I had to add #5 because I myself didn’t learn it at 18!!!
YOU BOTH ARE TAGGED!!
