“i”’s First Blog Report, And A Bunch of Others!

By kinziblogs

One of the exciting things about being a free-lance writer is the surprise of seeing the finished product your work with graphics and color and photos. Some magazines let you in on the process, for others it is strictly classified information until you get your copy. Another fun thing is seeing the theme of the magazine, and how it flows with what other writers came up with. Conversely, if there is no flow, the photos are flawed and graphics don’t work, you just sort of slink under your desk and hope next month gets here quick.

This month’s “i” has my first attempt at reporting and supporting what Jordanian blog writers are covering on-line. The theme was the covering the voices of controversy, remembering Salam’s post about the Jerash bus tragedy, Bambam’s ode to Gaza from Nas’ Global Voices Online compilation, and Nas’ coverage of Fouad Al Farhan (and your comment, Secratea :D ). It includes a hat-tip to 7iber, also. Hope you like it!

Well-known blogger Pheras Hilal writes the iTech and iBusiness columns monthly, and blogger/photographer Sabri Hakim’s images are sprinkled throughout. There was a lovely photo-essay by an anonymous contributor, it looked a lot like something I had seen on a blog this winter ;) .

This month, mine wasn’t the only article featuring bloggers, Khaled Hakim wrote an interesting piece revealing even more of Mohammed AlQaq. I had learned more about the Khobbeizeh blogger from Samer in his Casual PR interview, and Khaled reveals even more of the artsy edge and creative mind. I will always remember Mohammed as the one who sparked my curiosity to buy some khobbeizeh from the Sbanakh lady in Rabia; this poor man’s food is a blessing to our middle class table thanks to him.

It looks like blogging is here to stay, and more and more print people are covering what is happening on-line. Did I mention even Good Housekeeping and Today’s Christian Woman magazines both have blog reports now? Thanks for providing the content!

  2. kinziblogs Says:

Thanks Batoul!! It is really fun to read blogs thinking ‘what should next month’s focus be?’ instead of just enjoying them personally. :)

  3. The Observer Says:

  4. kinziblogs Says:

Observer, insha’allah, maybe see it first! I already found one mistake, blech. But, thanks for the pre-view encouragement!

Hey really thanks kinzi for the mention i truly appreciate it :)
the funny thing is before i became a blogger i had little interest in those magazines. now that i know quite a few of the writers on them i just check em out to see what they are talking about there. so they certainly gained my readership by their association with bloggers

Mabrook Kinzi! I know how excited you were about this and I am happy you got to see it happening for real :D

Bam, I feel your stuff is truly worth mention! :) Funny how relationship builds readership, and great idea-creators begat others. I’m enjoying getting to know other ways of thinking through them.

Allah yabarik feeki, ya Tololy! Thanks for sharing my happiness! Btw, I am enjoying your blog more with each post; I always did, but you have come back from your hiatus with new fire. :)
