Yikes, bad news from the Jones Fam front. Reunion is OFF due to shingles! My bro was ready to leave Scotland today for his sons’ first EVER trip to America, and the boys come down with shingles and CANNOT fly. I am SO disappointed. WWAAAAAAAAA.
Santa Barbara bro has wildfires in the canyon behind his home, and they are awaiting evacuation orders. Sis, in Northern California, hasĀ wildfires not far from her ranch. And they think I live in a dangerous place.
**UPDATE: Bro & Fam have evacuated their home and are staying with a cousin of ours. For those who pray, would you join me? Thanks

how disappointing! You must have been looking forward to this reunion & now it’s worry time instead. InshaAllah your brother & his family will be fine & return soon to their safe & unharmed house. Isn’t shingles a form of Chicken Pox? I thought only older people get it. Poor kids! InshaAllah they’ll get better soon & you’ll have a wonderful time together.
P.S even though i don’t comment that often, I’m really enjoying reading your posts from the US. The ‘love stories’ were really touching. Thanks for taking the time & effort to share.

Mona, you said it! Thanks for knowing what I am feeling even frm so far away. My Santa Barbara brother’s family might yet come to Tahoe, since there is a substantial deposit to lose; he laughed and said “Well, we may not have a home, so why not go on vacation?”. They were evacuated due to the danger of smoke inhalation, the fire is still one mile from their home.
Yea, there seems to be a little behind-the-scenes drama behind the source of the shingles…it is rarely seen in children unless they are situations of high stress that cause a compromise of the immune system. Since it’s not bloggable, I’ll tell you when I see you in the Fall.
Thanks SO much for hanging in there reading during my foray into All America Life. I know it is not interesting to many of those who usually read, letting me know I am not boring YOU to death is an encouragement.

I’m so sorry to hear about your family, Kinzi. I pray that they will all be safe and that God’s plan might revealed even just a little, which always helps me with disappointment.
I had such a great visit in Indy! My nieces loved playing with the konouz. The next day, we went to the symphony and the first thing they asked was if you were all coming.
Happy Fourth- one day late!
I used to nanny for a 3 year-old that got shingles one time. He wasn’t under any unusual stress, but he still contracted it. He was so sick, though. It was horrible and he ended up with this large scar on his thigh.

Summer, ahh, the wax and wane of blog reading time!! I barely have enough time to post, much less do moe than glance and speed-read through others blogs, so I know how it is. I hope you have a wonderful series of journeys, and that somethign special awaits you in Chicago. We’ll be in CA!! thanks for your prayers for my family…I know you knw how magnified things get when one isn’t present in times of trouble!
Em, thanks SO much! Yes indeed, times like this make a great op for releasing my strangle hold on what I THINK God’s will and plans are for loved ones! We had such a great visit with you, too! That symphony sounded almost too good to pass up, but we had another fam dinner. In fact, I brought up the subject of matchmaking you with my bro-in-laws brothers, and Andreas grinned and said “Let us pray, Kinzi”. So, there we are. I told everyone at the table “We need this girl in the family, she will bring fresh energy!” One of my in-laws said “Sortof like you did?” It was cute

You know, I haven’t been thinking straight, surely I can find a member of our family for Emily. Then we could bring here HERE! Too bad El 3atal’s bro is already married
. And, really too bad Teta Bean failed us and didn’t have another boy. At any rate, sorry to hear about the reunion, but I know you’ll have a magical time anyway. Kisses and hugs from the whole Bean family. Our prayers are with you AND the shingle-ridden Scotch branch!

MB, that thought DID cross my mind!!! If no available men in our fam, we could troll for Em among El 3atel COUSINS!!!
Yea, magic is what you make it. Perhaps SEVEN BOYS would have been TOO traumatizing for Lil Kinz, w/o Butterbean therapy close by. Thanks so much for your prayers for and thoughts of us. From teh Glyn Fiddich family branch too.
. Not that I touch it, blech.
Em, heh-heh, you are WAY too fun TO crack up
