I think I read the news too much. Especially when it is either Huffington Post or Pajamas Media and not much in between. It’s either ‘all good’, hope-n-change is moving forward well, or gloom and doom and head to the hills. The Hub (new name for hubby) lifted his eyebrows much higher than usual when I suggested selling our meager stocks portfolio and buying gold. Maybe he thinks I mean gold jewelry?
Yikes, more magazines going out of business here. Having trouble getting paid, AGAIN. With ITP Dubai in big trouble, could be more on the way locally. What is a free-lance writer with kids in orthodonture to do? The books are on the back burner. One fellow free-lancer said I need to write screen-plays. Another told me to hang in there with local publications that ‘need help’ (which I am doing, but being ‘helpful’ doesn’t seem to be paying, not even fashionista perks). Sister Sal insists I can be a technical writer for her company @@. LOL, anything with the word ‘tech’ in it gives me new gray hair.
Blondie dog isn’t ready for puppies, so breeding golden retrievers isn’t on the radar yet.
New ideas:
* facilitating health tourists. Just got off the phone arranging a root canal for someone who will be visiting.
* connecting tourists with reliable trips to Petra and Dead Sea/Madaba/Mt. Nebo/Baptism site.
* finding housing for SAGAs who find me through my blog.
So…but I do all that for free and fun, how can I make it pay? Pecentages? Finder’s fees? I guess I’ll just keep doing what I have been: do good where I can and trust God to make up the difference. Never failed me yet, that Wonderful, Awesome One.

Haha! Fundage indeed, Umm Farouq. I think you could certainly charge a minimum amount for your services (after all I know a guy here who charges something like 15% of the first year for helping folks find and negotiate for apartments… Alternately, maybe we need to found a magazine that would actually have a unique market instead of the same old same old market that everyone wants to capture… Hmmm, I’ll be thinking of profit turning ventures.
