It’s finally raining outside. The sound blew through my memory and I found myself singing a song I hadn’t thought of in decades. A song that resonated with teen-angst and hope for love.
Simon and Garfunkels’s Kathy’s Song
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls. And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies.My mind’s distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you’re asleep
And kiss you when you start your day.And a song I was writing is left undone
I don’t know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can’t believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme. And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I.
I am so glad that I found faith in God, and an incredible husband to watch the rain fall with.

One of my favourites…
I am so glad he found me…
Bahahahahaha I was listening to pandora.com today and they played that!!! Coincidence? I think not.
Check it.

Beti, me too, although Emily’s Song is my all time fav. No, Bridge Over Troubled Water, no…well, they were/are amazing.
Tom Richards, WELCOME! Thanks for the comment! Tell J thanks for the cabbage recipes, too. AND YES…more truthfully, it was He who found and pursued me patiently, nothing of my own.
Marvin, wow, those vibes between Amman and the jungles of FL!
Hamede, thanks for that! I am not sure how I feel about the image. After being used to so many perverse and horribly offending sculptures, this one seemed tame. If I go by the artists intent, (which I will choose to) it was an interesting concept. If I delve further, on behalf of each faith and what it could be interpreted, each one could be offended by aspects of the imagery. So I am going to choose to be an ambivalent observer!
Going to put some Simon and Garfunkel on now.
Love that song. Love S & Gfunkel. Have a great memory with the husband at a Paul Simon concert years ago.
When I first saw the post title I thought you were going to write about the Carpenters’ “Rainy Days and Mondays.” So glad you didn’t. Ha.
