Your Average Ordinary Everday Superhero Turns 50

By kinziblogs

Today I mark the passage of a half century of life.

My newly 15 year-old son played a song for me from his ipod (since he knows I don’t know how to use the darn thang), it seems to be his way of dedicating a song for my birthday. Very sweet, that he may consider me a type-of hero, what more could a mother want her son to think? Especially when it wasn’t so long ago my very existence mortified the boy.

The band is called Smashmouth. What kind of name is that? XD. I guess they are famous for surf-rock, and redid my fav as an 8 year-old, the Monkees “I’m a Believer”.

“Every morning I wake up just the same
Another victim of ordinary fame
I don’t see myself as invincible
It’s not true at all

I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero
Trying to save the world, but never really sure
I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero
Nothing more than that, that’s all I really am

Just a day job that’s someone’s gotta do
It’s kinda hard when everyone looks up to you
Try to make it look easy, gonna make it look good
Like anybody would

I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero
Trying to save the world, but never really sure
I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero
Nothing more than that, that’s all I really am

I’m just like everybody else
After all the hype it’s hard to tell
I keep my game face on so well

I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero
I’m trying to save the world
I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero

Trying to save the world
I try to hide my true identity
But no one knows it’s only me

Every morning I wake up just the same
Another victim of ordinary fame
I don’t see myself as invincible
It’s not true at all

I’m just your average ordinary everyday superhero

Well,I am reconsidering what I think of Marvin,it was irresponsible of me to praise him like I did when I don’t really know him nor his wife. One thing I know though is that after reading his post about laughing at and imitating a father out with his 10-year-old son on the beach,I know how very happy he and his wife are together, and it warms my heart,I just love couples that have such deep love for one another and enjoy each other so much.
