I am using this change of life-routine to establish some new personal disciplines. After my train-horn call to prayer yesterday, two of the kounouz and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. It is flat and we walked at a good clip for about 45 minutes. The air was crisp and cool, it felt great. We talked about every detail we saw, bunnies, birds, squirrels, lawn decor , types of trees and who might need a lawn mowed. I think Spikekid might get out there and mow some lawns for elderly neighbors, he is that kind of kid. Plus, Grandpa’s ride-on mower makes him feel like he is driving.
This neighborhood has either older folks or young families. The old folks are up early, plugging away in their gardens. Everyone we walked by stopped to look, smile and wave. They must’ve thought the mommy and kids were having a grand time chatting away about everything, and we were.
Later in the walk, there were some construction worker types getting into their big trucks. Half expecting a leering look and comment, I put my eyes to the ground. To my surprise, the first guy said: “Good morning Ma’am” and smiled at the boys. What a shock, a pleasant one. I forgot that you really have to look like Angelina Jolie to get leered at.
On sobering thought: there are two registered sex offenders within a mile of us. I am so thankful that the public has access to that information.
In spite of the tranquil locale, and kind neighbors, one must remind their children of stranger danger, so we can continue to have informed, memorable walks together. I wish we had such a list in Jordan.
Later that afternoon I went for another walk with my SIL. We roamed a new subdivision for an hour, catching up and enjoying being outside. That newly built area doesn’t have any offenders, and is filled with families with young children.
Today, Little Kinz and I went for yet another walk. She wanted to take Grandpa’s little red wagon, and brought her Ty bunny family in a basket in the wagon. It made quite a noise, a little embarrassing. She then had the idea to let me pull her and the bunny family, and the added weight kept the squeaks away. It was much better exercise than meandering at an 8-year-old pace, and pulling added to the workout. She enjoyed telling her bunnies about all we were seeing, and it was fun to have an hour of free time to chat about little girl topics.
It has been a very fun and relaxing summer so far! Thank You Lord, for Your favor and love.

Sounds idyllic! I hope you all enjoy every minute. I know I will enjoy reading about them.
What a nice place to decompress!
