We will be welcoming to the second decade of the second millenium bukra. I am wishing a day early yea, but tomorrow we have a couple events and I may not be around my fifth appendage – the laptop.
Tonight, the we will enjoy our last mansaf of the decade. A little early, yea. Our Jordanian church has a New Year’s Eve party every year to enjoy welcoming the new year with games, prizes, mansaf and kanafe, worship in song and prayer. It’s cheap and guaranteed no hang-overs.
**Project Boy is not excited about this event, hatta lo fi mansaf. The boys have two days of free xbox on-line playing, and it seems they would rather be home on a screen than celebrating at church. He said “Why do we have to go too? You guys go and leave us here. No one asked us what our vote was”. To which I replied “Sweetheart, parenting is not a democracy, but a dictatorship. We are benevolent dictators, but will dictate the course of your life for a few more years nonetheless”.
May God bless you all abundantly in 2011.
For those who prefer a less religious greeting, best wishes for a happy and healthy new year.

The many million times my parents said that to me.
Hope you and your loved ones enjoy a beautiful and peaceful decade
