Petra – Chapter 7

I’ll skip ahead to Chapter 7 to answer a question.

Several have asked if we paid the 90JD fee to get in to Petra.

NO*

Remember the “ghetto” theme going here.

6JD

We planned this trip before residence expiration in case it takes a couple months to get approval, and mess up summer “Stay-Cation” plans for Jordan.

For those inquiring minds.

(I knew the thought of Daar Al Kounouz paying 540JD to go to Petra would get reader Jaraad to leave a comment ;)

* Talk about highway robbery. But I say better to milk the tourists than Ma’an bread-eaters.

Petra, national treasure/milk-cow, Wonder of the World, key to Jordanian Fiscal Solvency. My husband says it is a plot to lure those exclusive Israeli tourists to part with some shekels on our shore of the Dead Sea.

When you made this transition from 1 to 7 and when I read Petra-Chapter 7 my thought went too far. I thought Chapter 7 as in the US thing :)
Glad residents treated as locals, at least in Petra.

  2. JaRAAD!! Of course, Chapter 7 Bankruptcy! YYIIII! Shu clever enta. If we had paid 540JD for Petra, then yes, maybe that!

  3. Kinzi, the Hub isn’t far off. The Israelis DO come across the border, bring their own food and water, day trip and then go back. We heard them a few years ago making a point of how “the Arabs” are trashing Petra (this would be while they were leaving their paper lunch sacks on the ground in a lovely picturesque spot) and bragging about how they could come to Petra and pay no more than the entrance fee… and you wonder why they raised it the first time to 20JDs. Although I think the current amount is a bit… OUCH!

  4. Oh my, MommaBean! Thanks for that inside scoop, wow. It’s only courteous to spend in the places one visits, so good for Jordan.

(It is the Italians trashing Petra, saw it with my own eyes)
