Real life offline is just a tad exciting these days, so much so in November that I sort of ran out of words to type, hit the wall so to speak. I think I did like eight interviews, THREE of which happened after deadline as a favor to the mags involved. I keep starting a post, then saving it.
I’m kinda flamed out on writing right now, and am taking a break until February issues. Whew. It feels so freeing not to have a deadline, interview or photoshoot looming – or falling apart on me.
And, I have a new interest: Pinterest
Sorry, laptop. I’m loving my needles and patterns and sewing again. My inner crafter is calling for more than a keyboard to express herself.
I’ll still be blogging, but since it is Christmas season, I am focusing on baking for my kounouz, getting my home thoroughly and warmly and invitingly decorated (with some cool new prints of Jordan!), finishing those American Girl Doll Christmas dresses I started last year, and attacking the piles I have avoided while rushing to write or teach.
I’m also leading an intensive, two times a week course on sexual abuse recovery. It is intense. These women are all Jordanian, all my peers, and all unstoppable. Relentless in their pursuit of Christ’s healing in this area of their lives.
I come home exhausted, from the Arabic and from their sharing their pain. The pain of being the unwanted girl is shared by several. Part of their story is being told that their father walked out of the hospital room in disgust upon learning he had another daughter. I take it back, how can I even know that kind of pain? Rejection? Emotional abandonment? Only with Jesus’ help to identify with their sufferings.
I’ll be back. I have Thanksgiving pictures and the Daily Carol and meeting WinterSamer in the works.
See you then!
