Jordan Beats the US in BK

Delivering the Whopper that is. Another expat in JO posted this, and I didn’t get it. Why, can’t you get Burger King delivery in the US? What was I thinking, of course not.

Creative customer service, besting the West in innovation.

(disclaimer: I don’t order in BK)

I think it’s because BK (and McDonald’s and Popeye’s and several other analogous comparisons come to mind) are relatively at a much higher price point in Jordan than in the US, so the customer is much more likely to be willing to pay a couple extra JD for delivery.

Actually, Fast Food in Jordan is cheaper than the US, and why was BK behind on rolling delivery service in the US is maybe because they were too busy opening branches that serve beer along with the whopper to consider delivery service.

  3. Silas, true. Gotta pay for convenience.
Hi Joe! Welcome to my blog, seen you over at MBs. Are you sure? I think in both actual cost fast food is higher priced, and in comparison to the average salary. Unless you mean hummous and falafel sandwiches, which is our fastfood of choice.

The average meal at BK or McD is $6.50 while in Amman it is more like JD 3.50 (or $5.00) including 16% sales tax unless you’re eating at Taco Bell where I’m headed right now to have me a crunchy beefy burrito for $1.05 including sales tax. Yummy

  5. Ha, they also deliver in Cairo, I thought it was because who would want to attempt to get “fast” food in that deaf defying traffic…plus we Americans couldn’t really see the conditions of the resturant.
